How we handle quote requests

We operate using phone calls and text messages only. We do not use email or online contact forms to manage our enquiries. This allows us to communicate directly with homeowners and builders about the specific needs of their project without the delay of an inbox.

When you get in touch, we discuss the scope of the work and the location of the property. We provide free quotes based on the information provided or after a site visit. This process helps us determine the materials needed and the time required for the job.

Information for an accurate estimate

To get a clear estimate, it helps to describe the current state of the walls or ceilings. Mention if the area is a new build, a renovation, or a repair. Tell us if the work involves hanging new plasterboard, setting joints, or fixing cracks and holes.

For repairs, describe the cause of the damage. Let us know if there is water damage or if a wall was punctured. For new installations, mention if you need specific linings like acoustic plasterboard, fire-rated boards, or wet-area linings for bathrooms.

If you are adding cornices or choosing between square set and shadowline edges, include these details. These finishing choices change the amount of work involved in the setting and finishing stages.

Using photos to explain the work

Photos are very useful for estimating repair work. A close-up shot shows the depth of a crack or the size of a hole. This helps us understand the type of patching or relining required before we arrive on site.

A wider photo of the whole room is also helpful. It shows us the ceiling height and the overall layout. This allows us to see if there are obstacles or if the room requires specific scaffolding or ladders for access.

When sending images, try to take them in good light. Clear photos of the corners and edges help us see if the existing plaster is sagging or if the cornices need replacing.

Measuring your project

You do not need professional blueprints for a quote. Rough measurements of the wall length and ceiling height are usually enough. For a single room, the total square metreage of the surfaces being worked on is a helpful guide.

If the job involves VJ panelling or cornices, the linear metreage of the walls or the perimeter of the ceiling is the most useful measurement. This tells us how much material to allocate for the project.

For patching work, a simple description of the damaged area size is sufficient. For example, mentioning a hole is roughly the size of a hand helps us plan the repair method.

Preparing the area for a visit

If we need to visit the property, please ensure the work area is accessible. Moving furniture away from the walls and clearing the floor space allows us to inspect the surfaces properly and take accurate measurements.

For ceiling replacements or relining, removing curtains or blinds from the windows can be helpful. This gives us a clear view of the wall-to-ceiling joints and any existing cornices that need to be removed.

Let us know about any parking restrictions or access issues at the property. Knowing if there is a steep driveway or limited street parking helps us plan the delivery of plasterboard and materials.

Our travel and service areas

Our base is in Kotara, and we cover any suburb within about an hour's drive. This includes most of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the edge of Port Stephens, and the lower Hunter region.

For projects located further than an hour's drive from Kotara, we only take on high-value jobs. These are handled by specific arrangement to ensure the travel time is balanced with the scale of the plastering work.
